Modernized e-File (MeF)

Modernized e-File (MeF) is an electronic system that allows taxpayers to file federal income tax returns with the IRS online. MeF was introduced in 2004 for corporate tax returns, and expanded to include individual income tax returns in 2009. MeF supports XML-based tax forms and allows e-file providers to transmit returns and retrieve acknowledgements.

When you use tax software to generate and e-file Form 1065 and related Schedules (including Schedules K-1) your tax software will generate an XML file for submission to the IRS.

Our application can read that XML file and generate electronically-importable Schedule K-1 data files.
